Brain based coaching
Brain based coaching is best described as using the science behind how the brain works, to improve and facilitate the coaching process. This model enables people to think more clearly, while increasing motivation and new ways of thinking. I am trained in this model and have jointly taught others this coaching method, alongside a Certified Neuroleadership practitioner. I use it because it works.
“Sometimes reducing a problem to one short sentence can be enough to bring about insight on its own.”
― David Rock, Your Brain at Work
To be mindful is to be fully aware of the present moment. For example enjoying a cup of coffee, or a blue sky. When we are mindful, we can fully enjoy what we are doing, instead of being lost in our thoughts or worries. Mindfulness increases our ability to concentrate and focus, which is much needed in our busy lives. I have been practising mindfulness and meditation as part of a Zen Buddhist community (in the Plum Village tradition) for over a decade. These practices can be useful in coaching and in training workshops if you are open to them.
“The best way to take care of the future is to take care of the present moment.” ― Thích Nhất Hạnh
Martin Seligman is known as the founder of ‘Positive Psychology’. Positive psychology is the scientific study of what makes life most worth living (Peterson 2008). It covers topics such as optimism, life satisfaction, happiness, wellbeing, gratitude, compassion, self-esteem and hope. As a trainer I have taught these concepts and practices in my workshops and they can be very useful in coaching sessions.
“The good life consists in deriving happiness by using your signature strengths every day in the main realms of living.” -- Martin Seligman
Ready to create deeper meaning, more energy, excitement and happiness in your life?
Congratulations - it's a courageous step.
It really is.
Finding your purpose is about remembering who you really are and connecting to:
- what drives and excites you (your passions)
- what really matters to you (in life, work, relationships)
- what difference you want to make in the world (your family, community, city, country)
- and the things you do well (your strengths)

A practical workshop for small teams and team leaders, to positively impact staff engagement and staff retention.
Research shows that purpose is a powerful instrinsic motivator, but staff need to see the connection between their job and the bigger picture on a regular basis.
Engaged employees have higher wellbeing, better retention, low absenteeism and higher productivity (Gallup, 2021).
The aim of this workshop is to create more meaningful connection between the team, the individual and the organisations purpose/mission. When purpose touches all parts of the organisation, then everyone is connected and energised by work that matters.
This is an authentic and grounded workshop on a powerful and energising topic.
