I draw on a range of experiences, teachings, and models that I have personally found valuable over the years.  These include brain-based coaching, mindfulness practices and positive psychology. 

What does this mean?

Brain based coaching
Brain based coaching is best described as using the science behind how the brain works, to improve and facilitate the coaching process. This model enables people to think more clearly, while increasing motivation and new ways of thinking.  I am trained in this model and have jointly taught others this coaching method, alongside a Certified Neuroleadership practitioner.  I use it because it works.

Mindfulness
To be mindful is to be fully aware of what is going on in this moment eg. reading these words or drinking a cup of coffee.  When we are mindful, we can fully enjoy what we are doing, instead of being lost in our thoughts or worries.  Mindfulness increases our ability to concentrate and focus, which is much needed in our busy lives.  When we meditate, we focus our attention on our breath or words, to settle our busy thoughts. This creates a sense of calm and stability in the mind and body.  I have been practising mindfulness as part of a Zen Buddhist community (in the Plum Village tradition) for over a decade.  If you would like to learn any of these techniques, please ask.

Positive psychology
Martin Seligman is known as the founder of ‘Positive Psychology’.  Positive psychology is the scientific study of what makes life most worth living (Peterson 2008).  It studies topics like optimism, life satisfaction, happiness, wellbeing, gratitude, compassion, self-esteem and hope.  As a trainer I have taught these concepts and practices in my workshops and they can be very useful in coaching sessions.

This process will not only help you discover your purpose and your passions, but it will grow you as an individual on a mental, emotional and spiritual level.  It will also strengthen your sense of self-worth, give you more confidence and inspire courage and determination to achieve your goals.
 
With compassion, a good set of ears, a down-to-earth approach and a sense of humour – as well as a strong skill set, I will navigate this journey with you.

Purposeful work -  why it matters
(in person 3hr workshop)

A practical workshop for small teams to positively impact staff engagement and staff retention.

The aim of this workshop is to create meaningful and genuine alignment between an individual’s sense of purpose and personal values, and the organisation’s purpose and values.  This is an authentic and inspiring take on an especially tricky topic.
